...a letter to my mom on mothers day

this is a repost from two years ago. im posting it again as a way to honor my wonderful mother. its how i still feel and i cant say it better this year than i did then. im wishing for all my friends who are moms a funtastic and happy mothers day!

dear mom
i miss you soooo much. when you died my heart got all crumbled and tied up in a tight ball and i couldnt take in even a little breath of air. all my insides got filled up with sad and i made so much tears i could have got drown in them. but little by little the crumble got less cause of remembering all the good stuff about you. it was like the hurting got shrunk up just like that time i put that pretty red turtle neck sweater you knitted for me in the washer and dryer and it got shrunk up so small that it looked like it could fit a for real turtle. ha ha. now theres so much things that could make me think about you with happy thoughts just like last night when i opened the deck door to go and feed the critters and i got a big nose full of some really pretty smelling bushes. i dont know what that bush was but it got me thinking of you cause of how you loved flowers and had that really pretty flower garden. it gave me a smile and a really nice memory. that kind of stuff happens lots of times cause now i could let it and before i couldnt cause of so much hurt being in the way. i think youll be happy that the hurt got shrunk cause you couldnt want me to be so sad for the rest of my whole life. i talk to you lots and i know you could hear me and i hear you in my heart even if you cant say stuff back out loud. some day im gonna get to be with you and im real happy for that. but right now cause im just right here still on the earth im gonna keep on being just me and do all the good stuff you taught me how to do. oh and you could need to know i dont ever forget to brush my teeth at night and i always talk to god before i get off to sleep. you could be real proud of me and my brothers and my sister cause were taking real good care of each other just like you taught us and just like you could want us to do. i love you more than a zillion of your apple pies and that’s a real lot cause you know how much i loved those yummy pies. happy mothers day in heaven mom!

…love and hugs from your son lenny

  38. Hi Lenny,
I'm sorry I haven't been around in a while...I've been sick. I got sick in April with chest cold and it triggered my asthma and I had to spend time at the hospital so they could get me breathing. Anywhoodles, my point is, I miss you and I haven't been online much for the last couple of months (due to the being sick stuff). But now that I'm feeling better I'm making my rounds and this is one of my first (and favorite) blogs to stop in and say hi.

I see you haven't been online much either. *hugs*

I love this post. Your letter to your mom is beautiful. And, as a mom, I can promise you she is VERY proud of YOU and your brothers and sister.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my sweet friend.
    Hugs,
    Lola

  53. Hi, Lenny I just found your post, and am so glad I did. My mom passed away nearly forty years ago, and I still miss her. I know she is in Heaven, with Jesus, though and is much happier than she could ever have been here on earth. All my brothers and sister are with her now, too, along with my husband and her husband, my dad. Isn't it wonderful that we can know where we will be when we die? God bless you, my dear. 71. You are such a good writer. I hope that there is an award for you out there. Your blog made me get tears in my eyes. It is very touching. I came to know about you through Sharon Mayhew's blog. I feel a conncetion with you although I am sixty years old , because I lost my Mom too(it will be ten years this year in August) and I am sure both our Moms know that we love them.
This is Munir over at focus. Blogger is not allowing me to write as my self here. Like you, I like to keep this Earth beautiful and save it from getting harmed. I will stop by and read your other entries in time.

  72. Lenny,
It is an amazing letter that touches all of us in some facet. Our senses do reconnect our soul with those we love! It will continue on and writing down these memories is super important. YOU will have them for a life time and it will keep you and your Mom close, in heart and mind! Time will make it easier, but it doesn't heal wounds like adults say. It just makes facets of your special memories brighter, more beautiful. When the pain starts to fade a bit the gem like moments shine through. I am so sorry for you and your families loss. I lost my Dad when I was a kid and today I still have moments that seem like they happened yesterday. We keep our family alive in sharing these memories. She lives on in you and your siblings; your MOM would be proud of you! xXx
