Nice haiku. Lenny, you should go to the WEP site - https://writeeditpublishnow.blogspot.com/2021/05/wep-2021-continues-artistic-inspiration.html - and add your URL to the list of other entries, so everyone can see it and visit your blog. I saw your comment on Hilary's blog - that's why I'm here. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known you're one of the participants of this challenge.
I love your beautiful haiku, Lenny. Felt the tension in so few words. Thanks for joining WEP this month. I hope it gives you motivation to write more. You're welcome to write for us anytime!
Hi Lenny - excellent ... so well done ... and you've lots of comments - I'll check to see if you're entry is on the list: it is at #19 ...
Excellent and obviously your Japanese connection has 'hit home' ... I love the line 'the Gods stand in silence' ... I do hope you'll join us regularly ...
Hi Welcome to the WEP! I had to smile when I read your Haiku and especially the line that says, Mt. Fuji stands silent. In the wake of tragedy, people realize their limitations. That was my thought behind that line. Outstanding haiku. Shalom aleichem
I enjoyed your Haiku Lenny. I haven't seen Mt Fuji but I would love to and my sense of it is exactly as you've portrayed it - that it stands serene despite all the great waves that threaten.
It's interesting that your haiku portrays Mt Fuji as untouched, while the Hokusai print portrays it as if it is about to be engulfed. But your depiction is right, of course!
Terribly sorry to be tardy to the party. I had a bit of a mental crisis but am back to abnormal now.

Wonderfully captured words.
ReplyDeleteThe way of the Gods. Indeed!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy a good haiku, and this one is well done! You captured so much in so few words.
ReplyDeleteThe way of the gods - how true! Don't read Japanese :) but the English version is neat. And always a pleasure to find a poetry entry. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Lenny, that's a great haiku! You said so much in so few lines, and also said it well!
ReplyDeleteThe rigid rules of Haiku seem daunting to me but one that you have mastered well.
ReplyDeleteI love the connections here: Mountains as gods, gods as silent and persevering. Great!
ReplyDeleteShort and to the point.
